A TIME FOR PAMPERING
For our 2021 trip to Uganda, the Heather Hurley Foundation Team visited the ladies from our project, Mirembe African Village. Our Village currently consists of 15 survivors of domestic violence and their 55 children. These ladies have experienced the most traumatic circumstances that revolve around abuse, including but not limited to, physical violence, food insecurity and homelessness. Through your donations, our ladies and their vulnerable children, have been removed from violent environments and some have even begun their own businesses!
We decided to pamper or ladies by providing manicures. Most of them have never experienced the relaxation of being "pampered". This is actually a foreign term to them. Our team was happy to introduce this concept of self care to the ladies, letting them know that they are worthy to experience good things too. Manicures were also given to the daughters of our survivors. Everyone picked their favorite colors/textures from a large array of choices. Their huge smiles warmed our hearts tremendously. Although the polish will chip and wear away, the memory and the lesson remains: They are Beautiful and they are Loved.
